Uzbekistan 'Pishkent' suzani (202 x 229cm)

£ 1,800.00

202 x 229 cm  //  6ft 8" x 7ft 6"

These unique and spectacular embroideries are credited to the Tashkent region of eastern Uzbekistan, sometimes described as 'Pishkent'. This type of suzani profusively decorate the entire surface fabric with stitched embroidery in some respects (to the author) affiliated to the work of Khujand and more particularly, Istaravshan in neighboring North Tajikistan. This is unlike those of the more typical and better known work associated with Bukhara and nearby Samarkand region.
