Tending to be light in weight Çeki Tülü rugs are made rather like those of Tibet in that the pattern part is drawn over a wood or metal rod and not cut in order to make a looped towel type finish rather than a smooth edge cut pile as is. The technique in peculiar to Obruk which is east of Konya in Central Turkey but the method probably existed elswhere formally in Asia Minor.
