Transliterated variously as BORDJALOU, BORCHALO from the mountainous region of the South Western Caucasian range and named after the Borchalu Turkic tribe, which gave its name to the now dissolved Borchaly sultanate, east of what is now Georgia. This powerfully designed rug appears somewhat heraldic with its shields.
