Kermanshah rugs are rarely seen since the output of this region seems slight and consequently numbers have not reached the west in quantity. On occasion, oversize carpets are sometimes seen so the weaving must therefore, have been well organised - something also seen in their restrained and intelligent design subtlety.
Confusingly, somewhat similar rugs and carpets were made in the early 19th century and go by the tradename 'Kerman-Afshar', so we have two similar sounding names for two gifted weaving centres, both with limited but similar outputs (oversize carpets included).
