240 x 205 cm // 7ft 10" x 6ft 9"
Embroidered in green silk on a red mill cotton ground. The fabric is in excellent condition and unusually broad. The weight might suggest some other purpose other than a shawl.
The prominent stitch is interlacing as found in Zoroastrian textiles, Balouch dress, Sindhi and Gujarati embroidery but also Armenian Marash embroidery. It is a stitch that purportedly travelled West to East, being found in Europe first and then migrating eastwards slowly.
