This Kashmir shawl is one done in the renouned hand-twill Jamawar technique unlike less valued embroidered or post 1850s patched twill weaves. On closer examination the extent of the ' fade ‘ does not occur across the borders which would imply that the colour is simply varied and not unevenly faded by sun as might be surmised . The fabric itself shows no sign of loss of integrity throughout.
