Used as a hanging the textile was once a Nahua skirt - a wrap skirt (enredo) from the Acatlan Guerrero region of Mexico known for fine satin stitch embroidery. It would have been worn with a huipil top and a large sash. The unfaded part at each end shows where the skirt was once joined.
