Almost certainly the best of its type seen within my career. What is sometimes called an eye-dazzle design is put to brilliant effect with white cotton used in an otherwise all wool construction of exceeding high value dyes in a design of perfect proportion.
Under my supervision this worn salvaged piece has been expertly mounted onto a stout linen lining, which is hemmed verso. Despite this, we'd advise use on the floor only in areas of minimal traffic. Otherwise this museum quality piece should be draped or hung.
