Hand block printed lightweight domestic cotton cloth, possibly originally intended as a headscarf or some other utilitarian purpose.
Kandili is an Asian suburb of Istanbul, which formally had a significant Greek population where cotton printing went on and by which term these prints are popularly known. The other larger centre of wood-block printing being Tokat close to Izmir in Western Turkey.
Lined with a cotton cloth mount.
