Frame mount 92 x 47 ikat 90 x 44 cm
These famous warp dyed silk textiles popularly known in the West by the Malay term ikat but correctly termed in Uzbek / Tajik as Abra Abrabandi. The cloths were deployed either as robes or spectacular decorative hangings. The type seen here with a blue weft is of at recognisable type possibly from the Emirate of Khokand.
The ikat has been professionally mounted onto a stretcher
